Miley Cyrus won’t be taking to the role-model podium to apologise for those outfits or those lyrics. The fast-talkin’ triple threat has already belly laughed at the tut-tutting about what she is singing and how she is looking for the launch of her career reboot with We Can’t Stop. The urban pop anthem intended for Rihanna but redirected to Cyrus by this year’s go-to hitmaker Mike Will celebrates the party that would provoke a parental lecture. At the We Can’t Stop bash, you can kiss who you want to, women with ample derrieres are “shaking it like we at a strip club” and there is the suggestion that people queueing for the toilets are “trying to get a line in the bathroom”. The 20-year-old actor, singer and chief executive of Brand Miley was acutely aware the social media microscope would be focused on the lyrics. Even though she left Hannah Montana behind years ago, Cyrus is still shaking off the last vestiges of that girl-next-door to sing about sex, drugs and rock’n’roll. “I knew that would happen,” she says about the focus on the lyrics. “There are some lines in there hinting at what people think it’s hinting at. (But) it’s just about whatever you are going through.” As an entertainer who has been brought up in Hollywood, Cyrus knows exactly what is going on. She knows if Justin Bieber leaves her home in his leopard print gaudy Audi, there will be speculation she has moved on from Aussie fiance Liam Hemsworth. For the record, they are still engaged. She knows if she tweets photos of her wearing a onesie to rival Cher’s seatbelt leotard, it will land on the homepage of every news and gossip website in the world. (more…) |

Miley Cyrus joins The Bert Show to chat about swinging by the studio, her new music, and the importance of social media to her career and connecting to her fans (did you know we introduced her to Twitter back in the day? And now she’s working with them to make changes for celebrities!) She also talks online bullying (ahem, Amanda Bynes), and why she’s 100% going to collaborate with Justin Bieber (in fact, she’s ALREADY done it!). |

Here’s your daily “It’s Miley Cyrus’ world, and we’re just living in it” reminder: She’s on the cover of next week’s Billboard magazine in a story called “Miley 2.0″! (Um, we weren’t aware you could upgrade perfection.) And if nailing that sultry stare in the above photo isn’t making your pulse thump at sonic speeds, please note that Miley is also showing off alll her curves in a super sexy/VERY low-cut swimsuit. We’re totally in awe of her goddess-like glow, but we’re mostly impressed at how the photographer was able to get Miley to hold still long enough to take this picture — I mean, THE WOMAN CAN’T STOP/WON’T STOP TWERKING! And if you think the “We Can’t Stop” singer is smoldering like a BAWSE on Billboard’s cover, don’t worry — that “IDGAF what you think of me” confidence is PLENTY THERE throughout her accompanying interview. In the article, Miley talks about what people expected of her comeback, saying, “A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj… That’s not what I’m trying to do. I love ‘hood’ music, but my talent is as a singer.” She also talks about staying true to the “twang” in her voice, and even mentions how she wants her forthcoming record to be the biggest in the world. Anyway, we are LOVING this chat with Miley, but honestly, we’re mostly struck by that GORGE cover photo. It serves as a friendly reminder that everyone needs to update their lives to Miley 2.0, and any haters out there need to Ctrl+Alt+Delete themselves out of her way. (Sorry, that’s the best tech joke we could think of.) |
